Practice administrator Katherine Mulvaney can help arrange your initial consultation and answer questions about insurance reimbursements and billing. She is a 2021 graduate in Psychology from the University of Maryland, served as an intern for the Mental Health First Aid Program at the National Council for Behavioral Health, and is a counselor for the Crisis Text Line.

Most insurance companies reimburse for our psychotherapy services. However, we do not accept insurance payments directly. Medicare and Medicaid are not accepted either. Many of our therapists are non-network TRICARE Certified Providers (TIN# 831713911); before you start therapy, please confirm that your therapist is included. At the time of each session, you are responsible for full payment, either by credit card or check. We also accept payments from Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

It is up to you whether or not to use insurance to reimburse you for therapy. A detailed receipt containing all the information needed to file a claim with your insurance will be provided to you. Insurance companies require information about the dates of treatment and a brief description of the services provided, as well as the clinical diagnosis.

Our clients can file their out-of-network reimbursement claims for free by downloading the Reimbursify app or by going to this link.

Alternatively, you can inquire directly with your insurance carrier and ask these questions:

  1. I’d like to know how much my psychologist’s “out-of-network” benefits are. (The CPT code for a typical 50-minute individual session is 90834. The code for a typical 60-minute couples/family session is 90847.)
  2. Is there a deductible for out-of-network care? Has it been met?
  3. How can I find the out-of-network claims form? And how do I submit it?
